A certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) is a medical professional who is authorized to administer anesthesia to patients and attend to their care prior to, during and after surgical procedures. The nurse anesthetist reviews patients' medical history, conducts a physical examination, forms a plan of care in collaboration with the anesthesiologist or supervising physician and educates patients on the anesthetic process prior to their procedure. Anesthesia care is provided for patients in the surgical suites, endoscopy/GI suites, radiology special procedures, cardiology lab, emergency room and labor and delivery suites.
