About The Position

Summary: The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides anesthetic services as a member of the surgical team, who contributes to the overall care of the patient-before, during and after surgery. The role includes technical and mechanical functions as well as having the ability to function in unusual situations by utilizing expert knowledge and professional judgement in assessing the problem and then implementing significant nursing action relative to that advanced practice role. Responsibilities: Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships with co-workers, physicians and other departments in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • graduate of an accredited advanced practice anesthesia program.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of NC
  • Current licensure to practice as a CRNA
  • CPR Certification
  • ACLS and PALS
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills, good manual dexterity, ability to work as a team member, ability to accept criticism, willingness to learn and cooperate, displays calm and self confidence in acute stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work on a computer.
  • Must be able to work with ventilators and associated equipment.
  • Must be able to engage in the following physical activities on a daily basis: Lengthy periods of standing and sitting. Moving stretchers, carts, and equipment. Assisting with the positioning of patients. Maintaining patent airway.
  • Maintain emotional stability.
  • Good hand strength required for difficult intubations.

Nice To Haves

  • MSN preferred.
  • Previous experience as a CRNA preferred, but not required.
