Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (Required)
  • AANA - American Association of Nurse Anesthetists - NBCRNA - National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
  • CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
  • Graduate from an approved school of nursing and hold current Ohio licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Graduate from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
  • Complete the AANA Certification examination.
  • Comply with criteria for biennial re Certification as defined by AANA to include current licensure as a registered nurse, active practice as a CRNA, appropriate continuing and verification of the absence of mental, physical or other problems which could interfere with the practice of Anesthesia.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document preanesthestic assessment and evaluation.
  • Provide general, regional, local and sedation coverage.
  • Select, obtain and administer anesthetics and other drugs.
  • Facilitate emergency and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Provide postanesthesia care.
  • Implement acute and chronic pain management modalities.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Provide on call coverage as required by the department.
