Facility: Vermillion Medical Center Location: Vermillion, SD Address: 20 S Plum St, Vermillion, SD 57069, USA Shift: Varies Job Schedule: PRN Weekly Hours: Varies Department Details 2 ORs, 25 bed CAH, solo CRNA On call for ER: intubations, procedural sedation, LPs, IV starts, trauma. Scheduled procedures on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday mornings; most procedure days consist of scopes, starting at 0700, finishes by 3 pm. Cases consist of ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, obstetrics, proficient in epidurals. On call typically changes over at 7pm on Sunday. Procedure schedule starts around 7 and usually done by 3. Job Summary Responsible for the administration of anesthesia. Administers anesthesia or sedation to patients undergoing a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures. Develops and conducts pre-anesthetic plan for the patient as well as write orders before, after, and during procedures appropriately. Works with and collaborates with providers caring for the patient. Communicates with patients, family members and others on the health care team. Evaluates and orders diagnostic tests as needed. Monitors patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, using current techniques to adjust appropriately with the anesthesia plan. Ability to work with growth and development needs of all client populations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree required from an approved and accredited educational program in specific area of advanced practice.
  • Requires current unencumbered licensure to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the State Board of Nursing in the state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
  • CRNA certification required and maintained through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
