About The Position

The Critical Support Assistant (CSA) is responsible for a wide variety of departmental duties during the summer months. The most important duties of a CSA will be in caring for a variety of animals such as rodents, fish, frogs, birds, and possibly more. In addition to the care of animals, the CSA will care for the plants in the greenhouse, conduct safety checks in the department, and other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Must be available to work the majority of the summer (Saturday, May 23, 2026 to Sunday, August 30, 2026).
  • Must live close enough to campus to come for work shifts that vary between 1 and 4 hours.
  • Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
  • Must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without supervision.
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Must be a current student at Bethel University.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use small step ladders to perform work.
  • Ability to work with hands in water to perform work in aquaria.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
