The RN Clinical Expanded Role will serve as a service line specialist, focusing on one area of expertise within a specific hospital or care site department. This role is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and evaluating projects and assignments related to their specialty. The RN Clinical Expanded Role provides clinical expertise, consultation, education, and research to their designated area, acting as a change agent by accepting and facilitating change. The incumbent is proactive and assumes a clinical leadership position. Role specifics: As a Critical Rapid Response Nurse your day to day focus in this role is to respond and lead teams when there is a rapid response or code. You will also respond to strokes and help transport the patients to necessary testing units. You check the deterioration scores and round with those nurses to see if there are questions or concerns. You will respond to all areas in the hospital and outside of the OR. You will not round on OB patients, but if there is a code you will be required to respond. Unit Specifics and Special Equipment: Ultrasound IV Nicom Essential Functions Provides expertise in specialty areas; participates in clinical programs and policy development; supports standardization of care protocols. Educate and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices and new developments in the specialty area. Uses research to improve nursing practice and develop care standards. Represents department on committees and works with healthcare team to coordinate and optimize patient care. Acts as consultant and liaison to healthcare team, patients, families, and community. Promote and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care, staying current with the latest research and advancements in specialty area. Directs and coordinates care team; provides or delegates care according to plan and licensure guidelines; manages time, supplies, and resources. Promotes nursing profession; integrates legal and ethical standards; practices within scope of licensure, complies with regulatory standards and documentation requirements. Uses assessment data and critical thinking to develop individualized care plans; involves patients, families, and team members. Reviews patient response to interventions; revises care plans as needed based on goal achievement and satisfaction.
