About The Position

Meta is seeking a Critical Operations Manager to join our Data Center Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. The Critical Operations Manager is responsible for the safe and effective operations, maintenance, and modernization of approximately 70 MW data center capacity across one or more buildings. This person should be familiar with equipment utilized in critical environments, maintain a focus on continuous improvement, and enjoy managing a team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in critical facilities operations
  • 3+ years experience in team management
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs
  • Regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain
  • Work at varying heights and from ladders
  • Lift and/or otherwise move 45 pounds or more regularly
  • Use hands and fingers for various tasks, including reaching/pushing/pulling with hands/arms/shoulders, stooping kneeling, crouching and crawling

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • Trade Certification or state license in Mechanical (HVAC)
  • Equipment field service engineering experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of both the tactical and strategic direction of a critical operations team to safely and effectively operate, maintain, and modernize physical infrastructure
  • Manage a team of Lead Building Engineers and Critical Facility Engineers through hiring, mentoring, coaching and intentional performance management to maintain a safe and effective operations environment
  • Review and serve as the final approval authority for procedures based on internal standards
  • Conduct Post-Incident and Root Cause Analysis reviews. Incorporate lessons learned into the day-to-day operations of the campus. Communicate significant lessons learned to relevant internal and external teams
  • Manage the Personal Qualification Standard for lead building engineers and critical facility engineers
  • Ensure Critical Facility Engineers maintain proper training and qualification to stand shift and conduct operations and maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with peer Critical Operations Managers to ensure consistency in the strategy and approach to delivery of critical operations
  • Maintain partnerships with technical and support teams, along with cross-functional partners responsible for server hardware and network capacity to achieve maximum uptime
  • Support the Environmental, Health and Safety program as well as technical training programs to ensure adherence to Meta safety policies and procedures
  • Routinely inspect buildings, grounds, and critical equipment and provide observation and assessment of operations in the data center
  • In collaboration with peer Critical Operations Managers and Lead Building Engineers, review risk mitigation efforts across the campus and resolve or escalate any concerns with conflicting redundancy impacts
  • Ensure compliance and adherence with work management processes and workflows, including the accuracy of work orders in the Enterprise Asset Management Systems, and Standards
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive incident response program of emergency operating procedures for the critical operations team
  • Support construction project execution (new & retrofit) in the data center, ensuring adherence to construction processes while supporting the critical operations environment
  • Occasional travel as required <10%</li> however, more travel may be required during onboarding
