As a Critical Home Repair Construction Assistant, you’ll help preserve homes for families in need, ensuring everyone has a safe and affordable place to live. Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to work and maneuver on roofs and high spaces
  • Ability to work in tight confines and within crawlspaces, wearing a respirator as needed
  • Ability to maneuver over uneven ground
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to stand most or all of any given day
  • Ability to work outside for extended periods of time during all months of the year

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of repairing homes through the Habitat Charlotte Home Repair Program
  • Support projects from demolition to final inspections and punch lists
  • Work alongside volunteers and homeowners, teaching, encouraging, and mentoring them on-site
  • Promote teamwork and communication between staff, volunteers, and homeowners
  • Help plan for each day’s tasks, ensuring materials and manpower are ready
  • Follow Habitat Charlotte’s Approved Construction Methods Manual to ensure quality and safety
  • Maintain Habitat tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Represent Habitat in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Perform work safely, efficiently, and with a spirit of partnership
