About The Position

The Operating Engineer is a critical technician responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at the Data Center. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with preventative maintenance to maintain the Data Center operations that support our clients' business objectives. As an Operating Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone ensuring building systems operate efficiently while delivering exceptional services that reflect JLL's commitment to operational excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Local 399 Operating Engineer
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, including Roof Top Units
  • Knowledge of maintenance and operation of building automation, water treatment and fire life safety systems
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends, including on-call responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine rounds of data center equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Monitor Building Automation System (BAS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for performance and alarms.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls equipment, including sensors, to resolve issues promptly.
  • Safely operate man lifts and forklifts for equipment access and material handling.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and controls equipment and sensors to maintain reliability.
  • Respond to alarms and alerts from BAS, EPMS, and other monitoring systems, ensuring timely corrective action.
  • Document operational readings and maintenance activities in logs or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Perform safety checks and adhere to all OSHA and site-specific safety protocols when operating equipment.
  • Assist with vendor coordination for specialized repairs or inspections.
  • Support emergency procedures during power outages, equipment failures, or environmental incidents.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools for mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Participate in training and certification programs for equipment operation and safety compliance.
