About The Position

The Data Center Critical Environment Support Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's cloud services. This position involves assisting senior colleagues in equipment and systems operations, maintenance, and team management support, while contributing to the development of operational procedures and project ownership. Requirements

  • 1+ years of work/applied learning experience in technical fields (e.g., mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, electrical, controls, data center) or equivalent experience.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or technical trade certificate (e.g., military, trade school) and 1+ years of technical services experience in high-availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Supports senior colleagues as an assistant in equipment and systems operations.
  • Adds required data, documents changes, and maintains procedures and building management systems.
  • Participates in creating incident timelines/data, root-cause analyses, and action items following abnormal conditions.
  • Provides maintenance assistance by prepping materials and performing administrative tasks as instructed.
  • Prepares paperwork in support of maintenance planning scope.
  • Helps provide onboarding support for new employees, vendors, and interns under the direction of senior team members.
  • Creates and submits requests for datacenter access using the Data Center Access Tool.
  • Supports the development of Methods of Operating Procedure (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by monitoring documents through approval workflows.
  • Assists in managing the CE SharePoint site by helping create and move scope through workflows.
  • Provides onsite team support and carries out tasks under the direction of others.
