About The Position

As a Critical Environment Energy Marshall at Microsoft, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of the Energy Isolation Program across the company's data centers. This position is integral to the operations of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, which supports a vast infrastructure that powers services like Azure, Office 365, and more. You will be responsible for implementing energy isolation procedures, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring adherence to safety standards while promoting a culture of inclusion and professional development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year of technical engineering experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in critical environment and industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions to engineers and non-engineers.
  • Experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assure compliance of Microsoft's Energy Isolation Program.
  • Establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plans.
  • Implement learnings and drive rigor into the Energy Isolation program to meet safety policy requirements.
  • Utilize local codes and standards as the foundation for the Energy Isolation program.
  • Establish a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with campus entities.
  • Commence energy isolation activities with continuous updates.
  • Liaise with the construction team regarding potential impacts on data center operations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in energy isolation incident investigations.
  • Participate in high-risk activity planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
  • Ensure high-risk SOWs, SOPs, and MOPs are reviewed and all energy sources are identified.
  • Verify qualifications, training, and PPE for personnel performing work.
  • Generate monthly reports on the energy isolation program status.
