Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Electrical Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of critical environment experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable regional electrical code (NEC, CEC, ETCI, NF C, etc.).
  • 1+ years’ experience with power systems in a critical industry (e.g. 3 phase/single phase transformers, low voltage switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS's), arc-flash studies, breakers etc.).
  • 2+ years’ experience designing, testing, or implementing electrical systems in a data center, industrial, or mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a proactive desire and capability to learn, grow, and develop new skills.
  • Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center operations.
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams to properly test and validate the installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Understand the design, functionality, and operational requirements of your data center.
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site data center operations and electrical infrastructure.
  • Serve as the technical authority for on-site operations related to large-scale, mission-critical electrical systems - including design and functionality.
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, ensuring highly redundant electrical designs are maintained.
  • Manage electrical infrastructure across the data center campus, ranging from a single large-capacity facility to multiple smaller sites.
