About The Position

The Critical Care Transport Nurse functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The Critical Care Transport Nurse utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to provide safe and rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients by a mobile intensive care to a higher-level medical treatment facility. The Critical Care Transport Nurse provides advanced emergency/critical care during medical transport and may also provide nursing care for patients throughout Premier Health. This position also includes public relations and medical education functions. Critical Care Transport Nurse is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics, and applicable regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Valid Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required at the time of hire.
• Certified EMT-B or Professional Nursing Certification preferred.
• ITLS or PHTLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• NRP and ATLS certifications required within 1 year of hire.
• CAMTS approved Nursing certification and Certified EMT-P in the State of Ohio required within 2 years of hire.
• Minimum 3 years of current RN experience in the Emergency Department or Critical Care setting.
• Pre-Hospital or critical care transport experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CareFlight Air & Mobile Services as a Paramedic.
• Additional 4,000 hours critical care experience as an RN in an ICU or emergency department.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients.
• Utilize the nursing process and evidence-based principles during transport.

• Provide nursing care for patients throughout Premier Health.
