The position involves various accountabilities related to the post-operative, operative, and pre-operative phases of patient care in the anesthesia department. Post-operatively, the individual participates in the training and orientation of new staff members and prepares anesthesia equipment for subsequent use. During operative procedures, the role requires applying all equipment used in the care of anesthetized patients and performing duties as directed by the Anesthesiologist, Nurse Anesthetists, or lead technician. Pre-operatively, the individual acts as a member of the anesthesia team, preparing the patient and machine interface for anesthesia delivery and assisting in the sterile preparation of the patient for monitoring line placements.
