The Critical Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. They assist the patient care team in performing various tasks and procedures for critically ill patients or patients requiring special skills or observation. They act under the direction and supervision of appropriate licensed clinical personnel. The Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 16 bed ICU that specializes in the care of the medically managed cardiac patient. Specifically, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, STEMI (ST elevated MI), rule out MI, Heart failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, TAVR (transfemoral aortic valve replacement) and unstable post cardiac Cath lab PCI patients (percutaneous coronary interventions). We manage several advanced therapies such as SWANs, CRRT, Impella, LVADs and ventilators. Critical Care Tech’s work alongside the bedside nurses in caring for all the patients. In addition to typical CNA duties, they are trained to insert Foleys, IV’s and Central line dressing changes. The CICU has a strong team approach where you will feel welcomed and supported.
