About The Position

MercyOne is seeking a dynamic and experienced Market Director of Nursing for Critical Care Services to lead and oversee operations across multiple facilities. This strategic leadership role is responsible for budgeting, planning, patient care management, and integration of critical care services. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader and change agent, driving improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Current or compact state RN license (Iowa).
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree required.
• CCRN certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Completion of Iowa Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a large, complex critical care environment.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical critical care experience.
• Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage critical care services across MercyOne Medical Center, West Des Moines, Centerville, and Newton.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, physicians, and staff to meet departmental and organizational goals.
• Develop and implement strategic plans, budgets, and staffing models.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory standards including The Joint Commission.
• Drive performance improvement initiatives using data-driven strategies.
• Mentor and coach management and staff through change and innovation.
• Align perioperative services and standardize clinical performance across the market.
• Implement new care models utilizing digital technology.
• Represent MercyOne in national professional organizations and community health initiatives.
