About The Position

Provide advanced life support care to patients during air and or ground transportation and provide EMS training to the community and provide technicial support to the emergency department to optimize patient care.   Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Requirements

  • Knowledge of universal precautions, EMTALA, HITECH, and HIPAA
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures common to the emergency department
  • Knowledge of emergency communication techniques
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for emergency management procedures
  • Ability to provide basic and advance emergency care.
  • Ability to perform capably in an aircraft at varying altitudes
  • Ability to tolerate the stress of flight
  • Above average interpersonal skills
  • Above average written and oral communication
  • High School Diploma
  • Emergency Healthcare Management, Paramedic Studies or related field
  • 3 year(s) in direct patient care and advanced emergency medical training
  • 1 (years) in a lead/senior paramedic role in a high volume EMS or flight system
  • Alaska paramedic lic, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and FP-C within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • To respond to on site medical emergencies, conduct a preliminary medical assessment of the patient(s) condition(s), triage and provide intervention per protocol, communicate interventions and status to care facility and transport to highest available level of care as required by patient(s) condition(s).
  • Apply artificial respiration or administer oxygen as required, start and administer intravenous fluids, required pharmacuticals and perform other emergency medical procedures during on site stabliization and transportation
  • Assist providers in the emergency room to include, but not limited to, point of care testing, wound care, phlebotomy, IV, EKGs, monitors and preparation for additional patient transport to higher level of care
  • Assume nursing duties as delegated according to the Alaska Board of Nursing Statutes and Regulations (refer to policy on nursing delegation to unlicensed assistive personnel)
  • Provide education to community residents regarding emergency medical care and prevention
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
