About The Position

Serves as a member of the Critical Care leadership team who supports, leads and directs clinical practice. Following the direction of the Nurse Director, the Clinical Supervisor implements unit specific strategies and colleague specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing Required
  • => 3 years An acute care setting in area of specialty Required
  • => 1 years demonstrated proficiency in critical care competencies at expert level Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Required
  • ACLS Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • => 1 years in Previous leadership Preferred
  • CCCRN - Certified Critical Care RN Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the assessment of staff competency and educates, coaches and mentors staff to achieve competence.
  • Ensures staff provides ongoing assessment of patients including the review of lab results and reports abnormal findings to physicians.

  • Implements unit specific strategies and colleague specific practice remediation that result in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
  • Assists with communication of information to staff.
  • Provides coaching/counseling in a constructive manner.
  • Keeps Director informed of any concerns, situations, or conditions relative to staff, patients, family members or physicians.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees.
  • Serves as a positive role model, mentor and resource person for less experienced nursing staff.
  • Supervise employees on their respective shifts and prepares input for annual evaluations.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional maturity to facilitate a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of pathophysiology and related disease process of the critical care patient
  • Keeps current on trends and development in nursing and serves as a resource for critical care standards of practice.
  • Demonstrates ability to think critically, prioritize, and recognize emergencies and responds with proper protocol.
  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current Knowledge in present areas of responsibility to include any specialty certification requirements (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
  • For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
