About The Position

The Crisis Specialist at National Church Residences is responsible for crisis management and de-escalation at designated Permanent Supportive Housing sites. This role involves working under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Team Leader to ensure the safety and well-being of clients by providing crisis prevention and intervention services. The specialist will engage with clients to build trust, conduct wellness checks, and link them to appropriate resources, while also modeling crisis prevention skills for coworkers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of previous experience in crisis and de-escalation work, mental health, and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Participate in established processes to identify clients in need of prevention interventions.
• Conduct wellness checks to build relationships and trust with clients.
• Assist clients with linkage to the most appropriate resources and services.
• Provide coping strategies to clients and debriefing after stressors or incidents.
• Communicate and coordinate with case management in shelter or housing programs.
• Model appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation skills for coworkers.
• Engage in crisis de-escalation to reduce situations resulting in violence or harm.
• Assist with initial linkage to resources and services to respond to emergent needs.
• Serve as point person with authorities after a crisis or significant event.
• Complete documentation related to duties of position.
