About The Position

The Crisis Services Clinician is responsible for providing crisis intervention and stabilization services, conducting diagnostic evaluations, and assessing treatment needs for individuals in crisis. This role involves preadmission screening for psychiatric hospitalization, monitoring individuals under Mandatory Outpatient Treatment, and developing clinical service plans. The clinician will also provide behavioral health consultations, referrals to community services, and ensure coordination of care among providers to support individuals in living optimally within the community.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services with coursework for licensure by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
  • Experience providing mental health or substance use services to adults, children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Documented crisis intervention experience within the past five years.
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain certification as a pre-screener for emergency hospitalization in Virginia within six months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provides face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention and crisis stabilization.
  • Conducts diagnostic evaluation and assessment of treatment needs.
  • Performs preadmission screening for private and state psychiatric hospitalization.
  • Monitors individuals ordered to participate in Mandatory Outpatient Treatment (MOT).
  • Attends and follows up on civil commitment hearings.
  • Develops clinical plans of services for individuals ordered to outpatient treatment.
  • Facilitates engagement in services for individuals.
  • Provides behavioral health consultation and referrals to DPCS programs or other community-based services.
  • Adheres to guidelines established by Virginia Statute and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
  • Conducts clinical assessments, intakes, and develops and monitors treatment plans.
  • Works as part of a team to coordinate services and resources among providers.
