About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate and team-orientated Crisis Services Advocate to join our Crisis Services team providing crisis intervention services, including Agency Intakes, walk-in services, peer support and psychoeducational groups, answering the 24/7 Crisis Line, needs assessments, safety planning, information and referrals, assessing level of risk, and providing information about crime victim’s rights and agency services. Reports to: Executive Program Director of 24 hour and Crisis Response Supervises: Assigned volunteers and interns This position is grant-funded and will continue only if sufficient grant or external funds are available. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence, sexual assault, and trauma informed interventions
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to easily climb stairs
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent oral and written Spanish highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety planning and crisis intervention for victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
  • Conduct intakes with new clients
  • Assess client needs and connect clients to resources and agency programs
  • Apply knowledge and experience to client interventions, decision making and problem solving
  • Provide telephone screening for shelter eligibility
  • Dispatch Survivor Advocates to Denton County Hospitals for victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
  • Provide appropriate community resource referrals during intakes and hotline calls
  • Provide information regarding protective orders, crime victim’s compensation, Child Protective services, and all DCFOF agency services during intakes and crisis calls
  • Coordinate connection with mobile crisis unit when necessary for caller’s with suicidal ideation
  • Provide Crisis Intervention for Outreach clients
  • Provide on-call support for emergency shelter and crisis line
  • Facilitate peer support and/or psychoeducational classes for clients
  • Provide quality assurance monitoring for crisis services documentation and service delivery
  • Maintain client files and records with confidentiality with accurate and complete documentation
  • Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided in a timely manner
  • Maintain availability to work a flexible work schedule that includes evening, weekend and Holidays as scheduled
  • Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.
