About The Position

The Texans Recovering Together Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program (CCP) is structured to provide comprehensive mental health support to individuals affected by disasters. The program employs a range of staff members, each with specific roles and responsibilities, all working towards delivering effective crisis intervention and support. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Crisis Program Team Lead: Team Leads are planned. The Team Leads supports the Program Manager and is an active member of the 2-person outreach team. This role coordinates and oversees crisis intervention efforts, ensures timely and effective support to those in distress, and manages a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive crisis services. This position involves overseeing and training a team of crisis counselors and community liaisons. The role includes overseeing the delivery of support services such as individual and group counseling, public education, and resource linkage. Additionally, it entails ensuring data accuracy for community needs assessments after disasters or crises. Strong leadership, community outreach, and behavioral health expertise are essential, as the Team Lead serves as a central contact point for community partners and upper management. The Crisis Program Team Lead will report to the CCP Program Manager. This is a temporary grant-funded position.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Driver License required.
  • Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to complete all MHMR Concho Valley training.
  • Ability to work hours other than 8:00-5:00, including nights, weekends, and holidays in support of the program and mission.
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Must use the mobile application to complete data forms.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office applications, electronic mail & calendaring.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Satisfactory pass a background check and DPS fingerprint clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or Texas approved nursing program preferred.
  • Certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and/or Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) preferred.
  • Qualified peer support may be considered.
  • Experience in outreach or crisis counseling is preferred; such experience might include peer counseling, peer support services, community health outreach work, resource linkage, student internships, volunteer service, crisis line/hotline experience, or any other combination of experience which would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities described below:
  • Knowledge of the community to be served, local resources for referral and support.
  • Skill in verbal communication; counseling; public speaking.
  • Ability to relate well to others; demonstrate empathy; display cultural humility; maintain emotional control under stressful or sensitive circumstances; function well in a chaotic environment; coordinate with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Train, debrief, and provide supervision to Crisis Counselors and Community Liaisons.
  • Coordinate and ensure the delivery of various CCP services, including individual and group crisis counseling, public education, and resource linkage.
  • Assist in assessing mental health and substance use needs in impacted communities and use data to conduct ongoing needs assessments.
  • Represent the CCP at community meetings and build partnerships with other agencies and community resources.
  • Coordinate data collection activities and review submitted data for accuracy to support program effectiveness and reporting.
  • Conduct site visits to partner agencies and accompany team members to ensure appropriate service delivery.
  • Conduct face-to-face and telephonic outreach.
  • Assess the emotional needs of individuals and make referrals to traditional behavioral health services when necessary.
  • Identify tangible needs and link individuals to community resources and disaster relief services.
  • Provide emotional support, education, basic crisis counseling, and connection to familial and community support systems.
  • Train and educate other community partners about disaster reactions, appropriate interventions, and CCP services.
  • Collect and input data into the CCP online Data Collection and Evaluation System.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
