About The Position

Are you a Registered Nurse that can exemplify our agency's core value of compassion? As the Crisis Nurse on the team, you will provide attentive care to clients during some of their most vulnerable moments. Throughout each shift, you will thoughtfully assess client needs, develop and adjust care plans, and ensure treatment supports both safety and respect. You will facilitate continuous improvements through quality assurance and utilization review, serve as a trusted clinical role model, and offer guidance and support to colleagues within their assigned areas. ABOUT THE WELCOMING CENTER The Welcoming Center is a nurturing, home-like receiving facility dedicated to supporting children and youth in Santa Clara County who face the challenges of placement disruption. Our multi-disciplinary team offers safety, care, comfort, and therapeutic support around the clock, ensuring that young people receive the immediate attention they need, 24/7. We serve young individuals who have recently been removed from their homes, are returning after an elopement, or have experienced a sudden loss of placement. Upon arrival, children and youth are greeted by empathetic and well-trained therapists and counselors. These professionals create a calm and stable environment, carefully assessing each individual's unique needs while working to secure appropriate placement. Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR ADN or equivalent
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License
  • Current CPR – BLS certification
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Good critical-thinking, communication, and organization skills
  • Psychiatric Nursing experience
  • Bilingual Spanish skill set

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate illness or injuries
  • Monitor Physician orders for medication or treatment, and prescriptions filled at outside pharmacies
  • Arrange appointments or receive orders for treatments when nursing expertise is required to facilitate the process
  • Ongoing training with staff on medications and handling medications
  • Provide other health-related education to staff and clients
  • Document all nursing interventions, including maintaining medication assistance records
  • Review all medical incident reports for shifts
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Meet regularly with the Program Director and Psychiatrists as requested
  • Collaborate with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up
  • Collaborate with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care
  • Attend appropriate treatment reviews related to health care for youth
  • Provide on-call support for nursing questions, as needed
  • Employ crisis communication and de-escalation techniques if necessary
