About The Position

Crisis Leads perform crisis assessments and case management services for youth and families who are experiencing a mental health crisis as part of the MCRT program. The MCRT Crisis Lead will need to be available to respond to crisis calls during their designated shift. The MCRT Crisis Lead will also assist with dispatching, training, mentoring, and supporting staff through consultation during their designated shift. The Crisis Lead may be signed miscellaneous tasks by supervisor as needed to support the program.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CADC) certificate
  • Must possess at least a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or another related field.
  • 1 year’s post master’s degree experience in community behavioral health and crisis services required.
  • Must be flexible, independent, and able to multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that may include public speaking and presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • LCSW or LPHA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing Mobile Crisis Response, Crisis Intervention, Case Management, under Rule 132 and other Rule 140 services to provide a minimum of 75 hour per month of direct service expectation (910 hours per year).
  • Responsible for completing a crisis screening to client at location requested. As part of the assessment, the Crisis Lead must assess risk, presenting problem, social history, self-care habits, and family system. Intake forms must also be completed.
  • Responsible for providing case coverage as assigned by Supervisor. Case load will be assigned by the Manager of MCRT or SASS Crisis Services. This includes making follow‐up calls to screen for additional needs and risk, ensuring that client and family have appropriate resources, communicating with supervisor if client is identified as having higher need and is out of scope of Crisis Worker’s practice, closing case if no further services are needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining an active caseload and providing direct service to clients and their families.
  • Responsible for networking with collaterals on behalf of active clients, including referral and linkage, discharge planning with in-patient psychiatric facilities, and the advocacy of a client’s rights within the education, legal, state and mental health systems. This includes responsibility for coordinating services with or own sub-contracted agencies.
  • Provide consultation for Crisis staff with regards to substance use assessing, treatment recommendations, and resources
  • Responsible for accepting crisis calls from 988 Hotline, QuadCom, and any other referral sources for MCRT coverage area and determine if the individual in crisis requires an in-person crisis screening or it is appropriate to provide crisis intervention over the phone.
  • Dispatch Crisis Specialists and Engagement Specialists. If needed, responding to in-person calls as well for both MCRT and SASS.
  • Provide consultation to Crisis Specialists during your assigned shift. If additional consultation is needed an additional on-call supervisor is available.
  • Responsible in providing support to new staff through training, mentoring, providing opportunities for shadowing of lead with their caseload, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Responsible for being cross trained and knowledgeable to assist with SASS, Crisis Stabilization, hospital staffing, and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Training at the Juvenile Justice Center to provide and other services as requested by supervisor. May be asked to cross train in other FSA departments as well.
  • Must attend a minimum of 9 monthly group supervisions for the year.
  • Responsible for discussing cases with supervisor in clinical, individual, and/or group supervision as need arises.
  • Responsible for reporting to supervisor regularly about problem cases, need for special services and resource information.
  • Responsible for reporting to supervisor progress, areas of concern, and feedback on new employees.
  • Responsible for completion of and meeting deadlines for all clinical paperwork for cases, including: Crisis assessments within 24 hours of assessment Completing service notes within a maximum of 7 days from the service delivery
  • Responsible for maintaining a higher case load for areas with higher needs.
  • Responsible for completion of and meeting deadlines for all agency administrative paperwork, including: event notes, private insurance authorizations, time sheets, expense reports, training forms and any other administrative or agency requested reports.
  • Responsible for attending and actively participating on majority of staff meetings, Quarterly Clinical Meetings, Lead Clinician Meeting, program meetings, and other meetings as assigned by supervisor, unless otherwise discussed with supervisor.
  • Responsible for participating in Utilization Review Meetings.
  • Responsible for serving on Agency and/or Program Committees when requested by supervisor.
  • Responsible for holding a valid, unexpired Illinois driver's license
  • Responsible for representing the crisis team in educating the community regarding the Crisis Cares program.
  • Responsible for facilitating positive networking relationships with community service providers and/or networks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible for completion of annual training requirements.
  • Maintaining IM-CAT or IM+CANS Certification.
  • Maintaining additional HFS requited trainings.
  • Responsible for completion of Specialized LEAD training, if needed
  • Responsible for ongoing training assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain CADC Actively working towards Clinical Licensure.
  • Training on private insurance and unfunded adults.
  • Responsible for providing 1 training for all crisis staff per fiscal year as agreed upon with supervisor.
  • Be available to help develop materials and participate in special community education projects/presentations as requested by administrative staff.
  • Pursue and maintain licensure and/or certification that are available and appropriate to educational/professional background.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform incidental business-related travel as needed.
  • Participate in agency Risk Management and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Responsible for promoting collegiality at the workplace by working collaboratively with others.
