About The Position

Under direct supervision, serves as a primary support and case manager to provide screening, assessment, and assist in linking services needed by members served and their family to overcome the crisis which brought them into the program. About the Program: The Merrill Center is a short-stay crisis stabilization unit (CSU) that offers 24/7 services to adults and youth. The Merrill Center aims to increase access to crisis services, reduce inpatient hospitalization, reduce the amount of time that law enforcement is involved in a mental health crisis, and strengthen the existing outpatient behavioral health services. Schedule Available: 3-11:30 PM, Saturdays AND Sundays, alternating weeks (0.2 FTE.) Expected starting wage range is $21.00 - $22.86. Salary range is $21.00 - $25.15. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. We pay differentials!!! The differential rates are paid at six percent (6%) of an employee’s base rate of pay for the evening (PM) shift, and ten percent (10%) of the base rate of pay for the night shift (NOC). Weekend differential rates are paid at five percent (5%) of an employee’s base rate of pay for the day (AM) shift, eleven percent (11%) of the base rate of pay for the evening (PM) shift and fifteen percent (15%) of an employee’s base rate of pay for the night (NOC) shift. POSITION SUMMARY Under direct supervision, serves as a primary support and case manager to provide screening, assessment, and assist in linking services needed by members served and their family to overcome the crisis which brought them into the program.

Requirements

High School Graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and three (3) years of direct services in mental health or community services; or Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services
Must possess at least 1 year of direct service experience with Crisis Intervention, including screening and assessments
San Bernardino County FACT, ACT, and MAPS programs; in addition to the requirements above must also have: o At least thirty semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in behavioral or social science, or o Sixty semester (90 quarter) units of completed college coursework, which includes 15 semester (23 quarter) units in behavioral science, Psych Tech courses and Alcohol and Drug Certificate courses are acceptable. o AND one (1) year experience providing mental health services including interviewing and referring participants and performing crisis intervention, or o Three (3) years of experience in a behavioral health department which involved direct participant contact, or o Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science and six (6) months experience providing mental health services including interviewing and referring participants and performing crisis intervention.
In Riverside County and San Diego County, Bachelor’s degree required and two (2) years in a mental health setting
Sensitivity to multi-cultural populations and issues
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment

Knowledge of basic medical and psychiatric terminology
Within two (2) months of employment, ability to apply financial requirements for billing and learn billing codes

Nice To Haves

Four (4) years’ experience in a behavioral health setting
Experience providing intensive case management and/or intensive community supports using psychiatric rehabilitation concepts
Experience in a mental health setting, outpatient clinic, dual diagnosis treatment, or community mental health service

Collaborates with members served to create Recovery Plan goals and ensure all services described in the Recovery Plan are provided
Consistent with area of expertise, provides specialized services and interventions related to Crisis Intervention, including screening and assessments
Facilitates groups according to the needs and interests of members served especially regarding education and coping skills in the area of Crisis Intervention
Provides appropriate interventions in crisis situations
On a rotating basis, performs officer of the day functions for both wellness, duty and stand by duty tasks
Collects required data and completes required documentation
Coordinates transitions to lower levels of care
Maintains awareness of community resources and assists members served in appropriate use of community resources
Assists members served with all needs, including Activities of Daily Living
Assists members served in making and getting to essential appointments
Assists and advocates for members served in obtaining appropriate benefits; provide representative payee services
Ensures that members served understand their legal status and rights
Helps members served achieve greater independence and autonomy
Safeguards confidentiality; adheres to HIPAA policies
Provides wraparound services that encompass whole person care
Provides transportation when needed and appropriate and linkage to community resources
If employed at inpatient program, must assist with restraint of members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
If employed at outpatient program, must evade members served in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
Provide and document quality and quantity of direct services as required by program standards
