About The Position

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Complete reports on critical incidents. Record student activities and behaviors using data collection software (Ensora). Demonstrate understanding of the phases of human development. Document behaviors are symptomatic of emotional, physical, or psychological distress. Maintain a safe and secure environment for clients on campus and in group settings. Respond to crises promptly and appropriately. Always maintain professional boundaries. Assess situations and determine the safest alternative according to TCI protocol. Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques effectively. Apply safe and approved physical interventions when necessary. Communicate daily with administration regarding student interventions and supports. Assist in supervising residents in sensory rooms, gym, and other designated areas. Engage youth who require time away from the program. Maintain compliance with all assigned training requirements. Attend staff meetings regularly. Demonstrate specialized training/expertise in trauma-informed care and crisis prevention techniques. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of five years’ experience providing direct services to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Demonstrated specialized training and expertise in trauma-informed care and crisis prevention techniques . Ability to obtain and maintain acceptable clearance checks , including State Central Register, valid driver’s license, and fingerprinting, as required by the program. Successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training , including a written test and demonstration of competency in performing physical restraints, as specified by program and regulatory requirements. Commitment to completing all required TCI refresher courses to maintain continued employment.
