About The Position

Crisis Counselor II works collaboratively as part of the Mobile Crisis Response Team, responding to mental health crises in adults and children within St. Clair County. Ensure complete crisis assessments are made for all ages using evidence-based tools to determine appropriate level of care and support needed. Provided follow up supports to all clients encountered through crisis program.

  • Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain proof of automobile insurance.
  • Master’s Degree in a counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, or psychology degree is required.
  • The ability and willingness to actively participate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Previous mobile crisis response experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Responds within 90 minutes of crisis notification to the location of a behavioral health crisis to screen an individual’s needs and assist the individual in receiving the appropriate level of care.
  • Ensure you/team respond immediately to the location of a behavioral health crisis to screen an individual’s needs and assist the individual in receiving the appropriate level of care.
  • Provide guidance by telephone to mobile crisis responders in the field
  • Communicate effectively within a team environment to meet the needs of those experiencing behavioral health crises
  • Provide brief therapeutic interventions as follow-up support to all who have engaged with our Mobile Crisis Response Team.
  • Complete screenings, assessments, and other necessary clinical documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with COA and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed timely and accurately.
  • Assist in coaching new crisis team staff in evidence-based tools and best practices for Mobile Crisis
  • Assists clients in transition to other levels of service and connects families with the appropriate resources in the community.
  • Work across departments to collaborate on suicide prevention practices and crisis needs
  • Assist with after-hours crisis collaboration, including after-hours consultation
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
