About The Position

The Crisis Clinician at Resurrection Medical Center is responsible for providing psychological consultation, developing safety plans, and working with patients, families, and other teams to determine if a patient needs a higher level of care. This role involves identifying presenting problems, conducting assessments, and ensuring safe dispositions for patients. The clinician will document assessments, maintain community resources, and communicate effectively with various personnel. The position requires collaboration with other clinical staff and adherence to policies and procedures to ensure quality service delivery.

Requirements

  • Must have current valid license as a LSW, or LCSW issued by the State.
  • LPS certification preferred.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Three (3) years experience in an Inpatient Psychiatric unit preferred.
  • DMH certification required for 5150 detentions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies presenting problems, assesses accurately, and arranges safe disposition to appropriate level of care.
  • Conducts screening and/or assessment in keeping with clinical knowledge and skill level.
  • Documents assessment and established diagnosis and application for 5150 appropriately in medical record.
  • Maintains current community resources and provides appropriate referrals to patients served.
  • Communicates patient admissions, transfers, and unusual occurrences to necessary personnel.
  • Coordinates the admission of patients to Behavioral Health Services based on diagnosis and patient needs.
  • Orients new employees to the Assessment policies and procedures.
  • Implements the department's policies and procedures.
  • Assists in back-up training as needed.
  • Functions as a Patient Advocate adhering to Patients' Rights and LPS statutes.
  • Interacts effectively with physicians and other clinical staff.
  • Works effectively with Business Office and Admissions staff, Emergency Services, and all patient care units.
  • Attends and stays current with all mandatory classes.
  • Communicates unit rules and policies clearly to patients and family members.
  • Complies with mandated reporting requirements related to neglect and abuse.
  • Responds to request for evaluation within one hour or less.
  • Collaborates with employees in department to improve services delivery or hospital operations.
  • Maintains composure during stressful interactions.
  • Supports facility public relations and community education efforts.
  • Promotes and inspires confidence from co-workers and supervisors.
  • Takes initiative to complete special projects in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts and mobilization.
  • Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling.
  • Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling.
  • Performs other duties as requested or required.
