About The Position

The Crisis Clinician position at Penn Medicine involves providing essential clinical services as part of a team dedicated to mental health and substance abuse crisis intervention. This role includes conducting diagnostic evaluations, emergency treatment, and referral services for individuals seeking help through the Crisis Response Center. The clinician will work under the supervision of a clinical supervisor or physician, ensuring high-quality care and support for patients in crisis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, psychology, nursing, counseling, education, or a related field; OR a high school diploma/GED with 12 semester credit hours in relevant social sciences and 2 years of experience in human services, including 1 year of mental health direct care experience.
  • CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic and social-service evaluations for individuals contacting the Crisis Response Center.
  • Deliver emergency treatment and crisis intervention services.
  • Conduct insurance verification and authorization for services.
  • Facilitate referral services for mental health or substance abuse-related needs.
  • Collaborate closely with a clinical supervisor and/or supervising physician to ensure quality care.
