About The Position

The Criminalist I position involves performing chemical, biological, and physical analyses on various substances related to police investigations, including narcotics and firearms. Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics, Forensic Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Digital Forensics, or Computer Forensics.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related physical or biological science with one year of professional Criminalistics experience in specified areas.
  • Completion of 8 semester/12 quarter units in general chemistry and 3 semester/4 quarter units in organic chemistry or biochemistry.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Criminalistics or Forensic Science (may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Experience in comparative analysis of handwriting or latent prints.
