About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, pharmacology, biology, microbiology, criminalistics, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Successful completion of 8 semester / 12 quarter units of general chemistry and 3 semester / 4.5 quarter units of quantitative analysis.
  • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver (Class C) License may be required for some positions.
  • Candidates must pass a criminal history and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of certifications from the American Board of Criminalistics or similar organizations.
  • Experience in forensic analysis or crime scene investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forensic laboratory analyses of physical evidence.
  • Investigate crime scenes and collect evidence.
  • Testify in court as an expert witness on forensic analyses and crime scene investigations.
  • Prepare and analyze complex reports and correspondence.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with law enforcement and other stakeholders.

  • Perform a variety of difficult chemical, instrumental, and other complex laboratory analyses.
