About The Position

The Criminal Records Technician at the Escambia County Sheriff's Office is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and office duties related to the management of criminal records. This role involves preparing reports, verifying documents, providing customer service, and maintaining data integrity. The technician will also conduct research, process records requests, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• One year of specialized or technical training beyond high school
• One year of office/clerical and customer service experience
• Typing speed of 35 correct words per minute per 5 minutes

• Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
• Skills in providing customer service and using computer software applications
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and conduct research

Responsibilities

• Receives, compiles, reviews, and processes a variety of records and reports, including sex offender registrations and arrest reports.
• Conducts research and contacts appropriate individuals or agencies to obtain critical information and provide certified documents.
• Performs searches in the FCIC/NCIC database.
• Drafts, composes, types, and emails invoices/cost letters regarding applicable fees.
• Prepares, indexes, scans, and performs quality control checks on document imaging system information.
• Receives payment for fees associated with background checks and public record requests, issuing written receipts for all funds received.
• Interprets, analyzes, and administers Florida State Statutes and Public Record Laws.
• Acts as a liaison with other agencies and maintains strict confidentiality.
