About The Position

Zoby & Broccoletti is seeking an individual to join our dynamic legal team as a Criminal Paralegal/Legal Secretary, where your expertise and dedication will play a crucial role in the successes of our criminal defense firm. You will have the opportunity to work alongside accomplished attorneys, contributing to our commitment to deliver exceptional legal services. This position requires management of a criminal case load in all facets of state and federal courts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a criminal paralegal or legal secretary
  • Familiarity with case management software and legal databases
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document filing requirements
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute
  • Discretion and respect for confidentiality and privacy
  • Ability to draft legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
  • Experience in preparing for trials, hearings, and client meetings
  • Willingness to undertake administrative tasks such as answering phones, maintaining calendars, and document management
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a legal team
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet critical deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Needles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and compile data as directed by attorneys.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with the appropriate court or agency.
  • Maintain and organize files, including case files, attorney correspondence, and documents.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and court dates for attorneys.
  • Assist with case preparation, including gathering evidence and preparing exhibits.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other entities to schedule interviews, meetings, and maintain case progress.
  • Take and transcribe legal dictation from attorneys.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and in compliance with legal ethical standards.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, and managing correspondence.
