We have an exciting opportunity for a Criminal Justice Liaison Worker to join our service in Leeds! This exciting role will support service users identified through the criminal justice system to reduce substance use related harm. Working from our city centre base and the community, alongside other professionals such as police, probation, drug and alcohol services, housing, social care, and employment services, strong and positive partnership working is a key element of this role. You will have excellent engagement skills to conduct personalised assessments for referrals from our criminal justice partners and deliver evidence-based interventions alongside practical support and safeguarding.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Experience of working within criminal justice or related field
  • Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues
  • Experience of working with people who have offending backgrounds including Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements and Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference
  • Willingness to undertake full police and prison vetting and clearance
  • Able to work remotely and continue to find creative ways to engage and communicate with service users

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main coordinator providing comprehensive assessments; coordinate resettlement and support plans by liaising with relevant agencies such as prison support services, probation, treatment services and other support services.
  • Work as part of a partnership to identify people within the Criminal Justice system who have a history of substance use and who are not engaged in treatment. Actively engage this cohort to encourage those not in service to seek support.
  • Act as a Single Point of Contact within criminal justice services for drug and alcohol related treatment questions and referrals to Forward Leeds treatment provider.
  • Support information sharing and shared processes between all relevant partners to affect a safe, seamless and successful support plan from custody to community or prison.
  • Work with local communities including criminal justice partners to ensure the provision of naloxone and overdose prevention information is provided within the criminal justice settings and our community bases.
