About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Bureau of Intelligence and Analytical Support. The mission of the Bureau of Intelligence and Analytical Support in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to enhance the safety and security of the Department's facilities, staff, inmates, and the public by providing timely and accurate intelligence and analytical support. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, law enforcement, or open-source investigations
  • Must have direct knowledge of Florida Department of Corrections security related rules, procedures, and post orders.
  • Must have direct experience with collecting and analyzing data then producing related reports.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical and tactical case support in regard to all areas of the Correctional intelligence scope to the Office of Intelligence.
  • Requests and receives information that is confidential nature there for only facilitating this information flow between Office of Intelligence and approved receivers.
  • Collects, conceptualizes, analyzes, interprets, and prepares intelligence data related to intelligence operations and planning from existing departmental documents (Management Information Notes – MINS), databases, Emergency Action Center logs, law enforcement agencies, other correctional agencies, etc.
  • Supports agency STG validation process as needed, Conducts STG interviews as needed and provides overall analytical support as needed to the office and or supervisor.
  • Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities that exist in organized criminal groups of a highly sophisticated and complex nature.
  • Identify crime patterns by persons of interest, gang affiliations, geographic area (Institutions), Regions, time of day, day of week, modus operandi, and other statistical probabilities.
  • Makes written recommendations for investigative strategies based on identified trends, patterns, crimes, and individuals that are concurrently being examined via briefings and presentations to the Chief of Intelligence.
  • Utilizes and is proficient in HUMINT, MASINT, & OSINT intelligence practices, theories, and techniques.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and disseminates such intelligence in an effort to prevent the disproportional amount of disruptive behavior attributed to criminal operations.
  • Research, reviews, and generates STG related reports, responds to inquiries related to the STG intelligence and confirms affiliations via data evidence.
  • Develops commodity flow reports, financial reports, linking reports, intelligence packet reports, K9 Leads reports, and ad-hoc requests from but not limited to cell data, land-line data, email data, audio recordings, STORMS, MINS and or any other data source that contains criminal activity information.
  • Produce seasonal reports and awareness bulletins detailing information, highlighting relevant risk matters and provide commentary as to the nexus to the department and assess offenders’ risk level as it pertains to officer safety concern.
  • Provides accurate and professional communication both written and verbally along with utilizing various statistical applications and Microsoft Suite to manipulate, examine and present data intelligence.
  • Delivers valid and reliable reports and or visual products, able to present information to large groups as a representative of the agency.
  • Participates in inter-agency collaborative efforts with various sections of the agency which include but not limited to, Classifications, OIG, Finance, Education, Training and Security Ops.
