About The Position

The Human Trafficking Crime Investigator for the State of Montana is a full-time role focused on investigating and enforcing laws related to human trafficking. This position involves collaboration with local law enforcement, leading sting operations, conducting interdiction operations, and providing training and outreach on human trafficking issues. The investigator will also assist with Amber alerts and missing persons cases when human trafficking is suspected, and may support narcotics agents as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of criminal, investigative, or law enforcement experience.
• Current POST Law Enforcement Basic Certificate (or equivalent from another state).
• Valid driver's license.
• Firearms training mandated for peace officer requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
• Five years of investigative experience, with at least two years as a full-time investigator handling felony investigations.
• Background in narcotics investigations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and coordinate investigations with local law enforcement regarding human trafficking.
• Lead and coordinate human trafficking sting operations.
• Conduct interdiction operations on state highways to disrupt human trafficking activities.
• Provide training, outreach, and education on human trafficking at the state level.
• Collect and share data on human trafficking investigations across law enforcement agencies.
• Assist with Amber alerts and missing persons cases when human trafficking is suspected.
• Identify potential human trafficking situations involving runaways.
