Requirements

• Four years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work, or military intelligence work, with two years specifically in investigatory work as a commissioned law enforcement officer.
• College training in law enforcement or criminal justice can substitute for a maximum of two years of experience.
• A baccalaureate or associate degree in law enforcement or criminal justice can substitute for the two years of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigates violations of state criminal laws and conducts administrative investigations.
• Gathers evidence, prepares warrants, and effects arrests.

• Prepares necessary reports on investigations.
• Makes physical arrests and transports fugitives.
• Performs background investigations.
