About The Position

Kentucky State Police (KSP) is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. With the highest level of professionalism and integrity the Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community. (KSP) is currently hiring a Criminal Intelligence Analyst I that will assist in investigations with intelligence gathering to aid in the investigation process, improve continuity, and assist with deconfliction. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for background and workup information available on reported and suspected criminals, businesses, organized criminal groups, etc.
• Perform strategic analysis on projects assigned by supervisor.
• Utilize databases to include criminal history, vehicle (AVIS), driver's license, corrections, court information, Virtual Intelligence System (VIS) database and numerous other systems to develop associations, linkages, crime patterns, etc.
• Review, research, and disseminate information or intelligence received by the Intelligence Branch; checking it for acceptability and validity before entering it into the VIS database.
• Serve as KSP intelligence representative at local, regional, and statewide intelligence or information sharing meetings as assigned by the chain of command.
• Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports for officer safety and unique crime trends as needed or requested by direct supervisor or the chain of command.
