About The Position

The Criminal Intelligence Analyst I position at Cobb County Sheriff's Office is designed to provide complex administrative and investigative support within the Sex Offender Unit. The role involves analyzing crime data, forecasting crime patterns, and generating detailed reports to assist in crime control and prevention efforts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Data Analysis, or related field preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in a criminal justice or law enforcement agency.
• Knowledge of criminal justice administration systems and computer software packages such as Microsoft Office.
• Valid Driver's License; NCIC/GCIC certification required within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Familiarity with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
• Background in data analysis or statistical methods.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes crime reports, arrest data, and intelligence reports to forecast crime patterns.
• Generates and presents detailed crime statistical reports to management and other stakeholders.
• Inputs and queries data in various computer systems, including GIS and CAD, to analyze crime activity.
• Acts as a liaison to department personnel and other agencies, providing crime analysis data.
• Researches and compiles information to support traffic control and criminal investigations.
• Creates and maintains databases, spreadsheets, and maps for crime analysis.
• Trains departmental staff in data collection and analytical systems.
• Attends training and studies current methodologies in crime analysis and law enforcement technology.
• Assists in the design and maintenance of operational databases and analytical software.
• Functions as a command center during large-scale operations.
