About The Position

Are you an early-career criminal defense attorney looking to build your courtroom experience and grow your practice in Maryland? Price Benowitz LLP is expanding our Maryland criminal defense team and seeking a motivated attorney to join us in Annapolis or the Eastern Shore region. We are seeking a Junior Criminal Defense Attorney to support our Maryland criminal defense practice, primarily handling cases in Annapolis and courts across Eastern Maryland . This role is ideal for an attorney with 1–2 years of criminal defense experience who is eager to gain courtroom exposure and develop trial skills while working alongside experienced litigators. The attorney will manage a growing caseload of misdemeanor and lower-level felony matters while receiving guidance from senior attorneys.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Maryland Bar and in good standing.
  • 1–2 years of criminal defense experience preferred (public defender experience strongly considered).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Desire to develop courtroom and trial experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ethical, client-focused representation.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in criminal matters in M aryland District and Circuit Courts, primarily in Annapolis and Eastern Maryland jurisdictions.
  • Assist with and manage criminal cases from arraignment through disposition.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and memoranda.
  • Appear in court for status h earings, motions hearings, and trials, as appropriate for experience level.
  • Advise clients on case strategy, legal rights, and potential outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys, investigators, and staff to prepare cases.
  • Maintain regular and clear communication with clients throughout the legal process.
