Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Computer data entry experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Familiarity with modern office equipment including computer software and filing systems
  • Ability to type or keyboard data entry at a rate of 45 net words per minute
  • Knowledge and skills to perform basic math principles
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to requests and inquiries from the general public and courthouse personnel
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations and procedures applicable to job duties assigned
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, instructions and documents
  • Ability to analyze various situations and determine best solution within authority delegated

Responsibilities

  • Seal files and documents as ordered by the Courts
  • Affix bar codes to documents for scanning
  • Scan documents
  • Process motions and orders, including file-marking, entering into the computer, obtaining Court signatures, and sending copies to respective parties
  • Process disposition of cases
  • Docket incoming transfer cases and number all documents received
  • Docket tax cases, assess fees
  • Issue writs, warrants, citations and subpoenas
  • Prepare notices of judgment
  • Present pro se litigants and files to the Court
  • Assist public in locating files and certifying documents
  • Process probation revocations, including copying documents, entering documents into computer to reactive the case, issuing arrest warrants and sending to Sheriff
  • Inspect bonds to ensure all bonds have been accurately entered
  • File all bonds posted for various court proceedings
  • Process disposition of cases, including closing out file once guilty plea has been heard or judgment received, sending copies of the abstract and commitment papers to Sheriff, District Attorney's Office, probation department, and bondsman
  • Prepare 'pen packets' for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, entering disposition information in the computer
  • Prepare bond forfeitures and failure to appear arrest warrants
  • Respond to inmate correspondence
  • Pull files, attend and assist the court with guilty pleas
  • Act as liaison between district clerk, judge, attorneys, court personnel and all other interested parties
  • Testify in court as custodian of records
  • Mail DWI suspension form to Department of Public Safety
  • Process civil and family law documents that are e-filed
  • Process passport applications
  • Perform other duties as requested by the District Clerk
