The Prince George's County Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Crime Scene Investigator within the Crime Scene Investigation Division. This role is critical in the documentation, collection, preservation, and processing of evidence related to criminal investigations. The incumbent will primarily be assigned to the Evidence Unit and will respond to service requests from sworn members of the Criminal Investigations Division. In addition, the Crime Scene Investigator may assist other divisions within the County by providing specialized evidence collection services as needed. The responsibilities of this position include meticulously documenting all evidence collection activities and ensuring that all procedures comply with established protocols. The incumbent will be required to prepare detailed reports on evidence collection and processing, which are essential for the prosecution of criminal cases. This role also involves testifying in court regarding the evidence collected and processed, necessitating a thorough understanding of legal procedures and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including law enforcement personnel and prosecutors. To succeed in this position, the incumbent must possess a strong knowledge of Personnel Law, General Orders, and departmental rules and regulations.
