About the position

The Crime Intelligence Analyst I position is part of the Criminal Investigations Division within the Department of Financial Services. This division is responsible for investigating a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts, including insurance fraud, workers' compensation fraud, arson, and misuse of state funds. The mission is to serve and safeguard the public and businesses in Florida against these acts. The position involves direct assistance to investigators, performing criminal history and intelligence checks, compiling and analyzing information, and preparing reports and recommendations based on intelligence assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform criminal history and intelligence checks for investigations.
  • Assist investigators in compiling and analyzing confidential information regarding insurance fraud and arson investigations.
  • Compile, analyze, and disseminate criminal intelligence from various sources.
  • Evaluate and analyze criminal intelligence information to predict capabilities and intentions of individuals engaged in insurance fraud.
  • Prepare oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations for agency management.
  • Serve as Terminal Agency Coordinator for FCIC/NCIC terminal.
  • Respond to requests for information from other agencies and represent the Division in meetings.
  • Participate in search warrants and assist in logging evidence.
  • May require participation on the disaster response team.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, or in a law enforcement agency.
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in criminal intelligence, financial analysis, military intelligence, or investigative analysis.
  • Experience in financial analysis, forensic analysis, statistical analysis, or crime analysis.
  • Bilingual verbal and written skills that meet a critical need of the agency's mission.
