About The Position

Under general direction, performs crime analysis work involving the collection, processing, and dissemination of data and information to and from local, state, and federal jurisdictions to support and enhance the investigation and successful prosecution of criminal activities. Crime analysis information will also be collected and disseminated with recommendation to related to assisting in identifying crime trends and other actionable intelligence to reduce crime, traffic accidents, and improve quality of life for residents and visitors. Develops new and analytical procedures utilizing available technology, data science techniques, and artificial intelligence (AI) resources to enhance crime analysis capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with coursework related to criminal justice, homeland security, computer science, intelligence. A degree in an unrelated field is acceptable with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience in research, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • TCIC/NCIC Full Access certification possessed or obtained within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret information regarding criminal activity in internal and external reports, registers, records and databases.
  • Ability to monitor, analyze and evaluate patterns and trends of criminal activity using statistical analysis and other analytical methodologies to assist the division(s) in meeting objectives.
  • Ability to research, retrieve and evaluate confidential information related to complex criminal investigations; create automated files, databases and spreadsheets for information management functions.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive analytical products and reports including crime bulletins and summaries; recommend investigative direction, provide oral briefings and presentations; facilitate intelligence and crime analysis meetings. Includes the integration of AI-driven analytical platforms to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Administrative work as assigned and provide support to law enforcement intelligence forums, such as but not limited to the San Antonio Fusion Center.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional contacts with experts, analytical counterparts, educators and researchers, liaison with other agencies and the public.
  • Ability to respond to requests for information about crime from the news media, civic organizations, general public and outside agencies.
  • Ability to participate in providing training to personnel on various criminal investigative techniques and crime trend analysis.
