About The Position

This position involves providing evaluation and treatment to adults and youth within an inpatient behavioral health and substance use setting. The role requires collaboration with the Inpatient Psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations for accurate diagnosis, prescribing medications including MAT treatments, and assisting with Baker Act and Marchman Act documentation and court processes when necessary. The APRN will also coordinate with other healthcare providers, such as Primary Care Physicians, to improve treatment outcomes and compliance. Patient and family education regarding diagnostic and medication information is also a crucial part of the role, as is working as an integral part of the treatment team for all treatment and discharge planning needs.

Requirements

  • Current Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner licensed by the State of Florida
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health and substance use
  • Experience working with both adults and children
  • Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test
  • Valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and safe driving record
  • Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.)
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all driving conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in collaboration with other community partners
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and display appropriate work demeanor and boundaries
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service

Responsibilities

  • Prescribes medications including MAT treatments as indicated
  • Assists with Baker Act and Marchman Act documentation and court process as needed
  • Demonstrates effective coordination to improve treatment outcomes and compliance
  • Coordinates with other providers, including the Primary Care Physician and other medical providers
  • Provides education to patients and families regarding diagnostic and medication related information
  • Works as part of the treatment team for all treatment and discharge planning needs
