About The Position

Duties will include working alone, maintaining fee campgrounds and maintaining undeveloped campsites on the Jefferson Division of the Helena - Lewis and Clark, NF. Type of work that needs to be done in fee campgrounds are cutting grass, cleaning toilets, collecting fees and taking monthly water samples. Other duties will consist of cabin rental maintenance and cleaning. Public relations are also a part of the job, informing the public of Forest Service rules. There will also be an opportunity to work with the trail crew or other resource areas.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger
  • Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Someone with a "can do" attitude who is willing to work independently and with a team
  • Experience working in the outdoors and on public land and/or with the public

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining fee campgrounds
  • Cleaning undeveloped campsites
  • Maintaining and cleaning rental cabins
  • Public relations
  • Trail clearing
  • Shop and tool cache organization, cleaning, and maintenance
  • Help with fire if needed or possibly spraying noxious weeds
