About The Position

Selected candidates will serve as crew members on a professional backcountry
trail crew and will work alongside Forest Service and Montana Conservation Corps
(MCC) personnel. The crew members will perform routine trail maintenance duties
including; trail logout, tread work, construction of drainage structures, hiking
extensively and living and working in remote backcountry settings.

Requirements

• Previous trail experience
• Camping and hiking mandatory

Nice To Haves

• Horsemanship skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Extensive hiking over mountainous terrain
• Camping in isolated and remote backcountry settings
• Working with small groups of people in remote areas
• Ten hours of repetitive manual labor tasks, digging, bending, stooping and lifting objects of over 50 lbs.
• Routine tool maintenance
• Driving 4x4 Forest Service vehicle
• Required trainings (CPR, defensive driving, horsemanship, packing, crosscut and chainsaw)
• Assist other departments as needed.
