Crew Member II - Street Sanitation

About The Position

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform general semi-skilled laboring tasks. Employees in this classification perform tasks requiring physical strength and stamina. Work involves performing skilled laboring tasks in street sanitation, which means operating a variety of trucks and heavy equipment in accomplishing tasks. Additionally, a crew member drives street sanitation vehicles to include street sweepers, water trucks, trash trucks, dump trucks for snow and leaf removal, and recycling truck; operates forklift; drives roll off to empty dumpsters at recycling center; mows grass with tractor, mower or weed-eater; sands icy or oily streets; shovels snow, rakes leaves; cleans gutters, repairs barricades; and performs routine ground maintenance tasks; completes work order and daily report paperwork; and performs related work as required. Incumbent must perform full range of duties as assigned with only general instruction and supervision. Must possess the ability to follow written & verbal instruction, and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisory staff, and customers. Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Virginia Commercial Driver’s License. Criminal background and driving record checks required.
