About The Position

Crew Leaders may supervise up to 4 tradespeople or laborers in all aspects of work. Crew leaders are expected to perform the work in addition to supervising employees associated with the tasks assigned. The majority of their tasks require physical labor in an outdoor environment on a construction site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred with three (3) years of construction experience and at least two (2) years specializing in a trade.

Ability to take a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving. Follows directions accurately and efficiently, paying close attention to details, seeking clarification when needed, and ensuring that tasks are completed according to established guidelines.

Excels in accurately assessing task complexity, setting clear objectives, managing deadlines, and problem-solving to ensure successful execution. Ability to adapt to new approaches and appreciate diverse perspectives as well as an evolving workplace atmosphere.
  • Building Clients: Dependable and follow through on commitments and promises to clients and employees. Ability to focus on the client/employee’s needs and understand how to address and deliver satisfactory solutions to meet those client/employee’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Pipe Installation and Fabrication: Proficient in working with various pipe types such as PVC, copper, ductile iron, and steel, with skills in cutting and fitting pipes using appropriate tools. Capable of installing and securing pipes according to precise specifications and safety standards.
  • Formwork and Concrete Carpentry: Skilled in constructing and assembling formwork for concrete structures such as slabs, pads and walls. Skilled in all other aspects of rough carpentry.
  • Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Competent in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings relevant to water/wastewater construction.
  • Inventory and Tool Management: Capable of assessing current material inventory and tool availability, ensuring that all necessary resources are on hand for project tasks. Skilled in communicating material and tool needs effectively to the superintendent to avoid delays and ensure continuous workflow.
  • Team Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership abilities to manage and motivate construction crews, coupled with effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
