About The Position

The Crew Leader at Wright Tree Service is responsible for supervising a line clearance crew, planning daily work, and ensuring safe and efficient operations in tree trimming and removal. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and effective communication with both crew members and clients, while also maintaining high ethical standards and promoting a family-oriented culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and correct arboricultural techniques.
  • Understanding of the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read circuit maps.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and 30 pounds frequently.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a line clearance crew and plans daily work for the crew.
  • Assigns work for individual crew members and directs them in performing tasks according to accepted practices.
  • Enforces safe work practices and conducts safety training in accordance with company policies.
  • Obtains permission from property owners for tree trimming or removal and explains the work to be done.
  • Maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work.
  • Keeps accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance.
  • Receives and interprets tree trimming and removal orders, understanding drawings and symbols.
  • Responsible for the conduct of safety training for assigned personnel.
  • Controls crew costs through effective manpower use and proper work methods.
  • Sets up barriers and warning signs to protect employees and the public during operations.
  • Trains new employees on proper procedures and safety practices.
